SCROLLING SITE

A Design Sprint - Design and Prototype a Single-Page Mobile Site in Figma with Minimal Navigation.

The purpose of this site is to display 3 works by a designer, which you will be randomly assigned. This exercise is to get students familiar with web design and serves as a research opportunity to learn about famous graphic designers.

DIRECTIONS

Design a single-page site with five sections, viewable as you scroll, and a menu. These five sections include a header with a hero image/text and menu, work, three examples of the designer’s work, and a footer with additional links and social media.

OBJECTIVE

This assignment was considered a design sprint by the professor, and it aimed to display three works by a randomly assigned designer. For this exercise. I researched the the work of Eddie Opara, who is known for his activism and branding work.

PROCESS

The process began with researching Eddie Opara and his contributions to the industry. After gathering some basic information from his portfolio site and various web pages, I collected eye-catching images, including three notable branding projects he is known for.

Next, I opened Figma and organized all my research and imagery in the components section. Then, I focused on designing the wireframes, which involved blocking out images and text into various sections as outlined in the creative brief. Finally, I created my UI page by copying and pasting from my components page and applying an eye-catching style to the design that mirrored the designer’s personal style.

REFLECTION -

his exercise familiarized me with Figma's workspace and the prototyping feature, which was unique and fun. Although the exercise was challenging due to images and text constantly moving in and out of the wireframe, it was informative overall. It helped me get more familiar with Figma and its features.
